NOBODY'S POODLE
an installation by
PAT LENZ
June 25, 2011 ~ September 10, 2011
Opening reception for the artist Saturday June 25 4PM ~ 7PM
What does it mean to be Nobody's Poodle?
No one can name you, command you, or lead you. You think and decide for yourself.
When I began this project there were wars and genocides raging all over the globe
incited by testosterone-fueled, power-mad despots without compassion for people
or nature. The world has not changed.
I envision a new icon: the embodiment everything positive,
life giving, and life sustaining. A post-biblical goddess who embraces
her femininity while exuding power and control. Nobody's Poodle is
a force for peace and non-violence whose benign weapon is perfume emitted from
a grenade-shaped atomizer. She is a Twenty First century heroine to be worshipped.
Everyone should aspire to be Nobody's Poodle.

Her work is in numerous collections and has been recently exhibited at The
African American Museum in Oakland, The Palo Alto Museum, and the Sonoma
County Museum (Summer, 2011).
Pat graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and did her graduate work at Columbia
University.
Pat was the owner-chef of A Moveable Feast
restaurant in the Hamptons where her senses of smell and taste were
in no small part responsible for her New York Times four-star rating.
Pat was the founder and co-owner of Lenz Vineyards on Long Island, another
endeavor that relied on her olfactory sense for its success.
More recently, she and her husband Peter Lenz established Duchamp Hotel and
Duchamp Winery in Healdsburg, California.
A feminist/humanist, Pat hopes for a world that respects, honors,
and uses the powers women bring to the table. Without this balance we will
continue to see aggression, violence, and waste of human life.
Nobody's Poodle is an edition of three.
One is in the permanent collection of
The Sonoma County Museum: Santa Rosa, Ca.
One is in the collection of
Norman & Norah Stone: San Francisco, CA.
